Rome, take 1

We just arrived in Rome. We're staying at a great hostel, good location, and the prices aren't too bad. So far we've just been chilling out and having a good time. We've spent some time today in the beautiful Villa Borghese park. Tomorrow we're going to go to the museum in the park. Apparently years (and I means hundreds) ago it was owned the family Borghese. It's a beautiful plot of land.

Other plans here include Vatican City and the Capitoline Museums. And of course the colleseum and pantheon. Rome as a city is certainly busy and bustling, but there is a laid back quality to it which is enjoyable. For example, the cars don't stop very much for lights, but you just jump out there and all of sudden traffic screeches to a halt. Other times you're wandering across the street and you wonder how you didn't get hit, but you don't. It's exciting.

The other thing so far is that it's very expensive. Or at least it seems so compared to our beloved Budapest which itself isn't the best bargain in the world. I've heard that Berlin is one of the cheapest cities, but I've yet to get there and find out the truth or falsity of that statement.

And now, of course some pictures.
