On Teaching

Today I stumbled across a passage in Calvin Seervald's Rainbows for the Fallen World (amazon) that I hadn't noticed before. The premise of his argument is that the best, most memorable teachers were the most eccentric. They impacted their students lives an left and indelible mark.
"... there is no higher calling than being a good teacher. The only rival teachers have for shaping the consciousness of the next generation is the mass media, and the secular mass media is a formidable adversary who deserves the strongest possible christian pedagogical witness."
Perhaps one of the most overlooked professions can in fact have the greatest positive impact in the world.
